An oral agreement to compromise a boundary dispute did not need to comply s 2 because it was not an agreement to dispose of an interest in land, even if that was its effect.

KEAY v MORRIS HOMES (WEST MIDLANDS) LTD [2012] EWCA Civ 900; [2012] 1 WLR 2855

A contract which does not comply with s 2 of the 1989 Act cannot mature into a valid one by later acts of part-performance.
