CHANDLER v CAPE PLC [2012] EWCA Civ 525; [2012] 1 WLR 3111 (CA) 

A parent company owed a direct duty of care to an employee of its subsidiary who had contracted asbestosis, having regard to the extent to which the parent intervened in the subsidiary’s business generally, the parent’s knowledge of the health and safety issues and the unsafe practices of the subsidiary, and reliance placed by the subsidiary on the parent’s knowledge.
